Carpenter jobs in Pierre, SD
Carpenter constructs, maintains, and remodels buildings or related structures. Installs, fixes, or modifies all aspects of a building, including walls, ceilings, floors, and stairs, as well as related structures like railings, doors, windows, and air conditioning systems. Being a Carpenter follows blueprints and plans to ensure requirements and specifications are met. Observes all worksite safety procedures and guidelines. Additionally, Carpenter inspects buildings to determine repair that needs to be done. An apprenticeship and/or formal training may be required. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Carpenter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Wood and steel stud framing
- Installation of roof blocking, doors and hardware, door and window frames, bathroom accessories, toilet partitions, casework, lockers, drywall
- Operate power tools
- Read tape measure
- Read structural and architectural prints
- Set up and use layout instruments
Preferred Qualifications
- Carpentry experience required.
- Welding experience is a plus
