Veterinary Associates of Clayton County (VACC) is looking for a Practice Manager at our Elkader, IA location to add to our 3-doctor mixed practice. 

We are a well-established mixed animal practice with 3 locations in Northeast Iowa: Elkader, Strawberry Point, and Valley Vet Clinic in Elgin, IA. Our Elkader location has a large animal haul in facility and a full-scale small animal hospital. Strawberry Point is a small animal exclusive vaccine clinic, and the Elgin location has a full-scale small animal hospital and up to date equine equipment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, and team-oriented individual who is engaged in advancing the practice and themselves. We are a youthful, innovative, and energetic group of veterinarians with an excellent support staff and friendly work environment. 

The practice manager is the key leader for all support teams within the clinic.  Leadership responsibilities will include coordination of all office operations and implementation of processes that ensure superior customer and patient experience.  A successful practice manager will take ownership of building, developing, and maintaining a successful team.  The PM will continually model a willingness to improve team dynamics, promote a positive work culture, and drive operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct office activities and functions to maintain efficiency and compliance with company policies
• General practice communication - between DVM's, team leads, clinic support teams, and HVP leadership
• Provide support to the front desk staff, including scheduling appointments, product sales/billing, inventory ordering/counting and PO entry, bank deposits, filing, office supply ordering, and overall cleanliness and organization of front desk area
• Create and maintain schedules for all employees
• Accounting reporting to HVP and monthly expense report review/approvals
• HR duties to include hiring and onboarding, performance appraisals, personnel documentation, timecard reviews, externship coordination
• Perform other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Great customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
• Extensive knowledge of office management procedures
• Basic understanding of how to operate standard business equipment
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Business background, ideally with leadership experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in office or business administration, or related field preferred
• At least three years of administrative and clerical experience required
• Experience with POS or ERP systems a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
