Cashier/Sales Associate Position Purpose:

The Cashier processes transactions completely, accurately and properly through the POS system in a friendly and efficient manner. The cashier also answers the phone at the POS and directs customer to the proper extension. A cooperative, enthusiastic, positive and supportive attitude with all team members are required in this role

Associate Customer Service Focus:

Be upbeat, positive, and sincere. Amaze every customer, every time.
Focus on the customer and avoid chatting with employees while completing a customer transaction.
When not actively engaged with customer at POS, greet or acknowledge every customer as they come through the door.
Greet each customer as they approach the POS.
Utilize the S.A.L.E.S. process and actively sell Gift Cards.
Ask every customer for their ACE Rewards card, promote the program and sign up new customers.
Develop an extreme attention to accuracy including reporting scanning errors, scanning every item, and opening boxes, bags, totes for “hidden” merchandise.
Resolve minor complaints and when necessary, request Lead Cashier or Manager assistance in a calm and helpful manner.
Effectively handle cash, debit, credit, check, gift card, merchandise card, coupon, and house charge transactions. This includes obtaining required information and following company procedure for each transaction type.
Process refund and defective returns accurately and obtain Manager approval, when applicable.
Master the POS to look up QOH, Dynamic Promotions, Quick Look up and other customer service, sales and inventory related processes.
Enter offline mode, when necessary, and handle all types of offline transactions.
Ask every customer if they found everything they were looking for and offer each customer a printed receipted and bag.
Thank every customer EVERY Time.
Departmental & Team Focus:

Properly process employee purchases.
Maintain a well-stocked work area which is also free of excess items, debris, and work papers.
Relay all communication and information that will ensure the smooth operation of departments to Store Manager.
Willingly perform various assigned duties when not engaged in customer transactions including, but not limited to, items on the opening and closing checklists.
Education/Experience:

High School diploma or GED, with related experience or training preferred.
Skills/Knowledge:

Willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the business.
A commitment to removing all barriers to sales with service excellence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
Ability to use fractions, decimals, and percentages and count change.
Successfully complete any required training and be an active, on-going learner.
Cashier/Sales Associate Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently, occasionally up to 50 pounds, to load and unload customer orders and stock shelves.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff and customers a normal in-person and phone conversation in English.
Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, kneel and crawl.
Ability to reach with hands and arms.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise level.
