Position Summary:
As a Kitchen Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing our kitchen's day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of healthy, balanced meals to the children in our care. You will lead a team of kitchen staff, oversee meal planning and preparation, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. Your leadership will contribute significantly to the program's success, directly impacting the wellbeing of the children we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare nutritious meals that comply with the CACFP guidelines.
Manage kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and overseeing daily activities.
Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
Order and manage inventory, including food, supplies, and equipment.
Develop and implement kitchen policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Collaborate with the program director to ensure meals meet the dietary needs and preferences of the children.
Maintain accurate records of meals served, inventory levels, and other necessary documentation for CACFP compliance.
Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
Liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure high-quality ingredients and supplies.
Be prepared to interact positively with children and staff, fostering an environment of respect and nurturing.
Requirements:
Proven experience in kitchen management, preferably in a child care setting.
Knowledge of CACFP meal patterns and nutritional guidelines.
Ability to pass a child care background check.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Commitment to nutrition and a passion for making a difference in children's lives.
Proficiency in managing inventory and budgeting.
Culinary certification or equivalent experience preferred.
First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
