Catering Manager plans, directs, and coordinates catered events for an establishment. Negotiates contracts, assists in the selection of menu items, schedules catering staff, arranges for facilities or equipment, and communicates customer needs to the appropriate personnel. Being a Catering Manager develops and maintains catering accounts by ensuring customer satisfaction before, during, and after the event. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Catering Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Catering Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Catering Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Experience / Knowledge Requirements

    Education:

    • College degree in hospitality management (or related field) or acceptable experience in the industry preferred.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years in the hospitality industry, with 2 years of local restaurant marketing and catering management experience preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills with customers and employees.
    • Knowledge of computer applications (MS Word, MS Excel, Restaurant Applications)
    • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
    • Knowledge and experience in restaurant management.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
    • Positive interpersonal skills required.

    Duties Include:

    • Develop and maintain relationships and communication with key partners in Operations to create effective catering initiatives and serve as the primary point of contact.
    • Pursue, develop, and maintain catering leads within the market/region.
    • Work with Corporate Marketing Team to provide social media content.
    • Provide on-site support when necessary.
    • Develops catering campaigns by identifying leads.
    • Creatively pursues leads to increase sales.
    • Continuously monitors progress and seeks new avenues for growth.
    • Shares feedback with management in a timely manner.
    • Attends monthly meetings and contributes ideas to improve department.
    • Ability to think in terms of building a business rather than just sales.
    • Willingness to invest in networking and developing relationships.
    • Follows up on every catering order to ensure quality, consistency, and client satisfaction.
