Position Purpose :

Under limited supervision, is responsible for utilizing the principles of nutrition, preparing patient trays for all diets, delivery and pickup of trays, special requests and needs, in-between meal food delivery and dish / pot washing.

Communicates with co-workers and coordinator.

What you will Do :

• Communicates any patient related problems / concerns to appropriate personnel, in a timely manner following departmental procedures.
• Utilizes nutrition principles to prepare and assemble appropriate patient trays according to patient's menu on tray ticket in a timely and accurate manner.

• Informs dietitian with monitoring of patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, have a calorie count ordered or special requests.
• Interacts with Nursing to ensure patients' diet prescriptions are accurate, and patients' food needs are met.
• Exhibits a "wow experience" with patients when introducing the Catering to You program, taking menu selections, delivering trays, inquiring during catering rounds and retrieving trays.
• Exhibits pleasant and cheerful demeanor and maintains a helpful attitude towards employees, physicians, patients and visitors.
• Completes catering rounds after passing trays to inquire if patient needs anything else.
• Is responsible for a variety of cleaning tasks including dishwashing, pot washing, general sanitation and cleaning and use of kitchen equipment.
• Maintains a clean, sanitary working environment.
• Contributes to patient satisfaction goals by providing quality service.
• Completes all daily, weekly, departmental reports as outlined in policies and procedures on a timely basis meeting all prescribed deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Completion of high school or GED is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience working in the field of institutional food service / health care food service preferred, but not required.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with adults.
• Ability to work as a team member and to work independently.
• Must possess high integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Must be able to cope effectively with stressful situations and time constraints.
• Ability to read, follow and understand written and verbal instructions required.
