PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Analyze/maintenance work items when required to perform maintenance or repair
• Perform repair on Switching Equipment
• Perform growth, generic retrofits, equipment upgrades, turn-ups, etc. on switch/transport/data equipment
• Work on new switch installations that will displace an existing switch or be a new entity
• Work on various system power components including but not limited to: batteries, power supplies, and inverter, etc.
• Perform repair/maintenance on the transport equipment (may include DCS, SONET, and various other types of fiber/transport systems)
• Perform repair/maintenance on the data equipment (may include LAN, WAN, ATM, Ethernet, and various other types of data services systems)
• Call- and interface with vendors and customers
• Check grounding/continuity on equipment
• Wire up and test alarms w/NOC on equipment at locations listed above
• Work on building alarms
• Cross train others
• Perform turn-up and maintenance on DS3 and above equipment/facilities as well as ATM, Ethernet and other data services.
• Reviews and interprets service orders, special services circuit orders, and CTAP orders
• Places and removes connections related to service orders, cable work orders, and circuit design orders on the MDF and other physical cross connect equipment using various systems (EX:TIRKS, AEGIS and any other support system documents)
• Place and remove connections related to service orders and circuit design orders on equipment related to data services offerings such as ATM and Ethernet, etc.
• Sets options/provisioning on plug-ins (EX: D4, DLC, MFT, Wescom, Kentrox, DDM, DCS, DDM-1000, FLM, etc.)
• Test, analyze and repair designed circuits and subscriber lines in the Central Office (Transmission measuring sets - Halcyon, T-Berd, T-Com, CAU, Craftek, Volt/Ohmmeter, etc.)
• Works with field technicians, NOC technicians, testers, and other support groups to resolve troubles on designed circuits, hi-caps, DS1 facilities, data services, and dial tone circuits.
• May maintain equipment at other than regularly assigned central offices which may require driving between central offices or to other locations
• Review and interprets schematic diagrams, circuit descriptions, and follow standard practices
• Requires use of PC and/or equivalent to interface with supports systems (EX: ServiceNow, TIRKS, Aegis, etc.)
• Install and repair GPS stratum clocks, TV and Audio circuits (EX: TVGS, PKGS, PFGS, etc.)
• Maintain projectors, and video conference equipment, miscellaneous Audio and TV equipment, and various intercom amplifiers.
• Maintain and support the network integrity of Cincinnati Bell services/assets.
• Attendance is required in this position.

EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:

• Demonstrated experience in switch transport and data technology
• Demonstrate ability to work with fiber and understanding of fiber services
• Demonstrated experience in the installation and report of special services, DS1 services, dial tone services and higher service offerings
Demonstrated experience using various types of test equipment (Transmission measuring sets
• - Halcyon, T-Berd, T-Com, CAU, Craftek, Volt/Ohmmeter, EXFO, VIAVI, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience working with network transport elements (D4, DLC, MFT, FLM, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience with routers, bridges, hubs, as well as UNIX operating systems
• Demonstrated willingness to take on responsibility for turn-up and installation of customer services in various network equipment environments on data service offerings
• Demonstrated experience interpreting Word documents and service orders
• Demonstrated experience in PC skills
• FCC license preferred for Radio & TV related work

PRE-REQUISITES

• Bachelor's Degree in job related field or Equivalent Work Experience
• Updated Driver's license
• Physical requirements: Able to lift up to 85 lbs.

• Satisfactory performance rating
• Satisfactory attendance record for last twelve months
• Ability to perceive differences in wire color

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work location: Various
• Normal tours of 8 hours, facility will be open 24 hours a day; requires day, evening, or night tours, overtime, emergency callouts, weekends or holidays
• Work performed in team oriented and customer focused environment
• Size of office and work group varies depending on location
• Works independently with minimal supervision
