Central Office Equipment Technician installs, repairs and maintains office machinery and equipment. Performs preventative maintenance, replaces parts , and updates software. Being a Central Office Equipment Technician documents maintenance and service cycles of the office devices. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Central Office Equipment Technician may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Central Office Equipment Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Central Services Technician

    Position Summary:

    • Maintain central processing & distribution department.
    • Distribute supplies and equipment used in the care and treatment of patients.
    • Responsible for cleaning the central processing & distribution department.
    • Decontaminating and sterilizing supplies and equipment as necessary and fulfilling JCHAO requirements.
    • Demonstrate knowledge to assess nursing units and other clinical areas medical supplies and ensure appropriate inventory levels are being maintained.
    •  Assist in maintaining inventory levels of the solution room.
    • Able to requisition supplies, maintains storerooms and distributes supplies to requesting departments.
    • Able to interpret data and identify product and pricing information for requesting departments utilizing product catalogs, and materials management information system.
    • Use positive customer service techniques to build communication with all departments and staff while focusing on continuous improvement.
    • Provides feedback to Materials Manager.
    • Sets up sterile trays and sterilizes supplies as necessary and according to established procedures.
    • Maintains a safe and clean central processing distribution environment by initiating requests for cleaning and repairs.
    • Attends inservice education programs as assigned to learn new procedures, adheres to hospital and department policies and procedures as outlined in respective manuals.
    •  Must work well under stress or tight deadlines.
    • Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors.

    Position Duties/Responsibility:

    • Able to deliver supplies throughout the day.
    • Able to prep and sterilize as needed.
    • Order supplies for departments daily. 
    • Work with the clinical staff to solve supply issues. 
    • Keep a clean and organized work area.

    Essential Functions:

    • The ability to lift 20 lbs regularly throughout the day.
    • The ability to pull supplies and stock shelves daily.
    • The ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
    • The ability to operate the sterilization equipment.

    Position Qualifications:

    • Education: High school Diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience:  Any combination of training, education and work experience that demonstrates ability to satisfactorily perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Typical qualifying experience is 6 months experience as a nursing assistant.                         
    • Certifications: None
    • Skills/Ability: Knowledge of medical supplies, patient chargeables, and hospitals terminology. Ability to take verbal orders in the department by telephone, follow set rules, perform tasks that are detailed and repetitive, work as department needs dictate. Follow through with accuracy, exercise good judgment, demonstrate initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise. Ability to develop computer literacy.
