Central Office Equipment Technician installs, repairs and maintains office machinery and equipment. Performs preventative maintenance, replaces parts , and updates software. Being a Central Office Equipment Technician documents maintenance and service cycles of the office devices. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Central Office Equipment Technician may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Central Office Equipment Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     JOB SUMMARY


    E-3 is seeking to hire motivated and ambitious Central Office Installers Level 1-4. Your primary responsibilities will be maintaining a variety of electrical and optical equipment in telecommunication offices, as well as the installation and replacement of this equipment. As a Central Office Installer, you’ll be doing work that matters alongside other talented people, transforming the way people, businesses, and things connect with each other.


    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Power transition work
    • Addition or removal of batteries
    • Addition or removal of circuits on working power distribution sources
    • Equipment testing and turn-up
    • Overseeing volatile work activities
    • Job-site supervision of subcontractor work.
    • Additions, modifications, or removals to Power Boards
    • Additions, modifications, or removals to Engine Generator
    • Addition or removal of common systems equipment/hardware
    • Addition or removal of wiring and connections (on non- working equipment only)
    • Perform as lead on projects with lower-level technicians assisting in the completion of the projects.
    • Safely drive company owned and rented vehicles/trailers
    • Fiber Optic Characterization and Test / Turn-Up
    • Lead verification - Audits
    • Analysis of job specifications and drawings
    • Provide work assignments to crew
    • Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems
    • Correct office record drawings
    • In-process and final quality inspections
    • Able to communicate with customers on all aspects of the job throughout the duration on the job.


    Work Environment:

    • May be required to work in a raised floor environment.
    • May be required to work in small crawl spaces and/or shaft ways.
    • May be required to work in facility manholes.
    • May be required to hand dig or trench outside.
    • May be required to work on top of buildings.
    • Must maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage, staging and work areas on-site.


    Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

    • Must be willing to travel 100%.
    • Experience in a CO or Data center environment
    • Read and write; great written and verbal communication skills.
    • Provide and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
    • Drive safely
    • Must be able to learn and apply new skills quickly.
    • Must be self-motivated and self-driven.
    • Great time management and documentation skills.
    • Operate a Brady Labeler.
    • Work extremely well in a team environment with direct supervision.
    • Must have the ability to work long hours, work at different times of day/night (odd hours) and stressful environments.
    • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio
    • Lift/Carry up to 80 pounds
    • Climb ladders safely by maintaining balance and able to use tools and carry materials while climbing ladders
    • Have sufficient hand strength and dexterity to use industry specific tools
    • Distinguish colors and fine print accurately
