Central Supply Supervisor supervises employees responsible for either all central supply functions or one specific function such as sterilization, equipment distribution, or linen supply. Assists employees in day-to-day tasks and ensures hospital procedures are followed and standards are met. Being a Central Supply Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. The purpose of this classification is to oversee the day-to-day operations and staff at the central warehouse, including receiving, recording, storing and issuing supplies and materials for the City.

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
Coordinates daily work activities of subordinates; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; creates and distributes employee schedules; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.
Oversees the receiving, inspecting, recording, storing and issuing of supplies and materials to City employees; oversees the loading and unloading of supply trucks; monitors the consumption and reordering of supplies and materials; coordinates inventory with other City personnel.
Oversees the maintenance and verifies inventory of equipment, materials and supplies; conducts physical counts of inventory items; records issuing and usage; and cross references between physical counts, manual records and automated database information.
Oversees the maintenance of warehouse tools and equipment; ensures tools and equipment are properly serviced and inspected for repair and/or maintenance needs; orders needed repair parts; and oversees repair work performed on department equipment and tools.
Provides information/assistance regarding warehouse services, procedures, policies or other issues; responds to complex questions or complaints; researches problems/complaints and initiates problem resolution; maintains related documentation.
Ensures warehouse facilities and grounds are organized, safe and clean; oversees the proper receiving, storing and handling of hazardous materials.
Assists with the development of the operating budget for the department; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget.
Prepares, compiles, or completes various forms, correspondence, inventory reports, budget reports, or other documents.
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, invoices, purchase requisitions, leave requests, time sheets, stock reports, inventory reports, ordinances, policies, procedures, manuals, directories, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Communicates with supervisor, City employees, the general public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Operates a warehouse tools and equipment, such as forklift, small power equipment and hand tools, a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
High School diploma or GED; supplemented by five (5) year(s) of progressively responsible experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.
