Ceramics Engineer develops manufacturing processes and equipment for converting ceramics into useful products. Tests various combinations of materials to create ceramics that that are durable and economical. Being a Ceramics Engineer researches and selects the appropriate hand and power tools to be used in the production process. Tests finished ceramics to ensure quality, consistency, and durability standards have been met according to specifications. Additionally, Ceramics Engineer requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Ceramics Engineer typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. POSITION SUMMARY
This position consists of teaching the following:
Ceramics (hand building) for grades 4-8, period 1, 9:00-9:50
Ceramics (hand building) for grades 4-8, period 2, 10:00-10:50
Ceramics (wheel throwing) for grades 6-8, period 3, 11:10-Noon
Loading, unloading and firing kiln (no students) period 4, 1:05-1:55
There is a 15 student limit for hand building and a 12 student limit for wheel throwing.
Candidate will have knowledge and experience with Ceramics as a medium and experience teaching students grades 4-8.
The class is 5 weeks in length. Student work will be shown at Open House in the final week.
Instructor will be aided by 2-3 counselors who have experience in the medium of clay.
