General Position Description:
The Ceramics Program Job Coach/Ceramics Program Support Staff will work with adults in a Blake Foundation Supported Employment Job Site to provide intensive skill training and support on the job and will assist in the implementation of the community-based program for adults with disabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the SAGE Program Coordinator and Associate Director to design tasks and training strategies and to set up the work environment to promote maximum work outcomes for employees.
- Encourage social integration for employees. Provide training, formal support and opportunities for interaction with the community.
- Promote a productive work environment. Ensure areas are set up and ready for production on time. Maintain quality control procedures and ensure production deadlines are met.
- Monitor safety standards/policies.
- Maintain professionalism in all areas of work. Always deal with customers, staff, and supported employees in a professional and appropriate manner. Deal with problem solving in a professional manner. Provide feedback and offer options/solutions in a constructive manner.
- Attend EBF in-service trainings as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Keep supported employees’ files up to date. Keep daily attendance and payroll records, document professional and family contacts, and initiate and file seizure reports. Complete all assigned duties and paperwork accurately and on time.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Conform to policies, practices, procedures, and philosophy of EBF.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to maintain good working relations with fellow professionals, volunteers, families, and supported employees served EBF to encourage and maintain active teamwork and to deal with conflict in a professional manner.
- Exhibit responsible performance in carrying out all necessary duties. Demonstrated willingness to accept new responsibilities and accept change.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the individual planning process, strategies for teaching job tasks, and methods of monitoring progress.
- Ability to use work time efficiently, to arrive at work and scheduled appointments on time, and not to abuse sick time or telephones.
- Exhibit responsible performance in carrying out all necessary duties. Demonstrated willingness to accept new responsibilities and accept change.
- Demonstrated knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of DDD systems and knowledge of current best practices in supported employment is preferable.
Other General Requirements:
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Work experience in job coaching preferable.
- Ceramic work experience is preferable.
- Maintain current Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Maintain current CPR, First, Aid, Article IX, and Prevention and Support.
- Must successfully clear a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services/Department of Children, Youth and their Families central registry check. All newly hired employees are subject to the E-Verify Employment Eligibility Verification Program.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required and willingness to obtain future boosters if required by employer. Accommodation available.
Physical Requirements:
The position provides support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The position requires the following physical requirements:
- Must be able to walk, run, climb, stoop, kneel, sit, stand, reach, stretch, bend, squat, and other physical activities.
- Must be able to communicate with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Must be able to distinguish smells such as gas and other noxious fumes.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to wear PPE, such as a face masks and disposable gloves, to provide a physical barrier to protect you and others as needed.
Psychological Requirements:
- Must be able to remain calm, non-defensive with a supportive attitude during stressful, potential crisis, and crisis situations.
- Must be able to work in an extremely stressful environment where there are considerable mental and emotional demands. Must be able to manage high volumes and unpredictability of work.
- Must be able to remain flexible and reprioritize according to the changing demands of the day.
- Must be able to manage stress in a fast-paced, unpredictable, intense setting.
- Must be able to adapt to diverse cultural environments and communicate in a culturally inclusive manner.
- Must be able to represent EBF in a professional manner in all situations.
Working Conditions:
Requires high level of energy to perform the daily activities. Requires standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, and squatting. Requires working in an EBF supported employment site.
Additional Information:
Full Time position, regular scheduled business hours of 8am-4pm and additional work hours as needed.
