    We are seeking a full-time, mid-level Project Engineer for our Albuquerque, NM operations.  This position can be remote if you are within 100 miles of Albuquerque, NM; Phoenix, AZ, or Flagstaff, AZ.
     

    Response, assessment and evaluation services (RAES) are parts of a larger program associated with abandoned mines. The selected candidate will support our work at a variety of environmental engineering programs in the following areas:

    •    Be part of a team of engineers and scientists developing designs required to implement removal and remedial actions for cleanup of environmentally impacted sites and abandoned uranium mines.
    •    Work with a team to perform engineering design, develop plans, specifications, and cost estimating.
    •    Support constructability evaluation with construction contractors
    •    Support engineering alternative evaluations for removal and remedial actions at abandoned uranium mines.
    •    Support pilot studies of new technologies and approaches for mine clean up.
    •    Provide construction oversight of design implementation by construction contractors.
    •    Be familiar with heavy equipment, construction means and methods, and surveying.
    •    Communicate with client and contractors in the field during construction; serve as liaison between field and senior engineers in office.

    Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years relevant experience. You will also have / be:

    •    Familiarity with design/construction of disposal cells, waste piles, evaporative covers/caps, erosion and water controls, stormwater routing and controls, road design, slope stabilization, and restoration techniques.
    •    Experience with engineering design and construction oversight. 
    •    Experience with environmental investigations.
    •    Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
    •    Familiarity with heavy equipment, earthwork construction, and land surveying.
    •    Experience in southwestern United States, environmental remediation, mining and mine reclamation, uranium mining and mills, interaction with regulatory agencies, tribal lands, CERCLA sites.
    •    Excellent communication skills.

    Degree / Certifications
    •    BS in engineering (civil, environmental, geotechnical) from an accredited college or university. 
    •    Professional Engineer (PE) is desirable; an EIT candidate with progress working under a PE is acceptable. 
    •    40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is a plus
    •    30-hour OSHA construction safety training is a plus.

     

    Work Environment
    This position can be remote if you are within 100 miles of Albuquerque, NM; Phoenix, AZ, or Flagstaff, AZ.   This position is primarily desk work, however, occasionally (30%) you will need to travel and perform fieldwork.  The field work is anticipated to be in Arizona and New Mexico. A physical capacity for working outdoors, often in isolated areas, is required. You must be able to:
    •    Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
    •    Work outdoors in all weather conditions, both hot and cold.  
    •    Walk on uneven terrain. 
    •    Work in variable outdoor environments, packing heavy equipment, and excavations using hand tools. 
    •    Carry field equipment (35 to 40 pounds).
    •    Don personal protective gear as needed.
