Occupational Therapist Asst. - Nursing Home assists an Occupational Therapist in a nursing home environment with rehabilitative activities for patients who may have developmental, physical and emotional impairments. Prepares equipment for treatment and may perform clerical duties for the department. Being a Cert. Occupational Therapist Asst. - Nursing Home requires an associate degree and passing of a national examination to be a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA). Typically reports to an occupational therapist. Cert. Occupational Therapist Asst. - Nursing Home's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Nursing Assistant under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) assists in direct patient care such as providing activity of daily living, helping with toileting, taking vital signs, calculating intake and output, etc. He/she may handle human blood and other potentially infectious and/or hazardous materials, which may result in a possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or harmful elements.
Requirements :- Current CNA certification required
- Current BLS from the American Heart Association
- MAB certification required within 90 days of hire
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
