Siena Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is in search of an Occupational Therapist (full-time, part-time, or per diem) to join our Special Treatment Program. Sharing a campus with Siena’s skilled nursing facility, our special treatment program is located in a secured, 48-bed unit and specializes in the treatment of clients with psychiatric diagnoses. Our patients suffer varying degrees of physical ailments, and all have a secondary diagnosis of mental illness. The facility provides a transition from acute-care psychiatric treatment to a residential setting.
We provide care to patients 18 years of age or older, both male and female, who display severe and persistent psychiatric impairment and whose adaptive functioning is moderately to severely impaired. These patients require 24-hour care. Due to their chronic mental illness, admission to a standard skilled nursing facility is prohibitive.
Our special treatment program is dedicated to improving or preventing the deterioration of our residents’ current level of psychiatric functioning. We take a recovery, wellness, and discovery approach, collaborating with the resident to facilitate hope and empowerment. Our goals are to help each patient counteract internal and external “stigma,” improve self-esteem, encourage resident self-management, and reintegrate the resident into his or her community as a contributing member, achieving a satisfying and fulfilling life.
