Certified EHR Trainer conducts technical training programs for end users of EHR (electronic health record) software applications. Determines training objectives and creates lesson plans and other materials needed for training. Being a Certified EHR Trainer configures the training environment to ensure end-users can practice using EHR software both inside and outside of the classroom. Designs and delivers new hire training and ongoing user training during system changes and upgrades. Additionally, Certified EHR Trainer may be responsible for implementing a credentialed trainer program that ensures EHR instructors have the required level of system knowledge to effectively deliver training. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Typically requires Epic/Cerner or similar certification. The Certified EHR Trainer gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     SUMMARY:

    Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is currently seeking Information Technology (IT) professionals to join our team as a EHR Support Analyst/Trainer! This position will work full-time 40 hours per week on Monday through Friday. This is benefit eligible and will enjoy evenings, weekends, and major holiday's off.


    The EHR Support Analyst/Trainer I performs research, assessments, testing, documentation, training, and maintenance of the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. Works as part of a team to provide training and support to all EHR users. Communicates effectively with other areas and participates in the continual improvement of EHR operations by developing protocols, proposals, and recommendations.

    Job Duties:

    • Development of training materials, new user training and classroom sessions.
    • Collaborates with physicians and medical office staff to analyze/identify requirements and document recommendations for appropriate solutions.
    • Participates in maintaining and troubleshooting the EHR application:
      • EHR template/document development and support
      • Ability to learn and progress in the use of MS SQL Server, Crystal Reports, and other applications as needed.
    • Provides clinical background and knowledge for EHR users, motivating and training them to take advantage of workflow efficiencies, electronic ordering and messaging and methodologies towards reducing paper flow.
    • Participates in basic operating systems end user support.
    • Promotes and educate users about EHR.
    • Rotates between all Boulder Medical Center site locations.
    • Trains and problem-solves with diverse user groups.
    • Communicates regularly with co-workers, users, and management. Keeps manager and coworkers updated on relevant projects and issues.
    • Accepts and performs other work as assigned and assume duties of others during absences when assigned.
    • Carefully documents and organizes department processes.
    • Performs required on-call rotation in conjunction with the rest of the EHR team.

    Required Experience:


    Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with an ability to work well within ever changing priorities and situations.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Business Suite applications.
    • General knowledge of NextGen EHR preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft business suite applications.
    • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as documentation and organizational skills.
    • To relate and communicate well with staff, physicians, and patients.
    • Demonstrates initiative in establishing priorities, multi-tasking and working with little supervision.

    Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent. Associates or Bachelors’ degree or equivalent combination of education and technical training in Electronic Health Records (EHR) software, highly desired.
    • Clinical certification and/or 1 year of hands-on EHR experience required. 2-4 years of hands-on EHR experience a plus.
    • Working SQL skills a plus.

    Experience:

    • A minimum of 1 year hands-on experience in EHR, required.

    Salary Range:


    • $25.66 - 34.63/hour; depending on experience.
