Certified EHR Trainer conducts technical training programs for end users of EHR (electronic health record) software applications. Determines training objectives and creates lesson plans and other materials needed for training. Being a Certified EHR Trainer configures the training environment to ensure end-users can practice using EHR software both inside and outside of the classroom. Designs and delivers new hire training and ongoing user training during system changes and upgrades. Additionally, Certified EHR Trainer may be responsible for implementing a credentialed trainer program that ensures EHR instructors have the required level of system knowledge to effectively deliver training. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Typically requires Epic/Cerner or similar certification. The Certified EHR Trainer gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Job Overview: Lead EHR & Operations Trainer

    Advanced Project Leader responsible for managing the training curricula with a focus on development, delivery, assessment, and revision of training content, emphasizing on the methodology of distance learning, adult learning, and eLearning.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • General knowledge of clinical applications, i.e., EMR, PM, LIS, and PACs systems.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of RHG’s operations and an in-depth knowledge of current and emerging applications, technologies, and best practices.
    • Project management in directing efforts to solve complex information requirements. Activities range from analysis of workflow, system development, and quality assurance processes through ongoing application support.
    • Facilitate the exchange of information among medical organizations, via electronic interface or other methodology.
    • Knowledge of adult learning principles.
    • Oversee the maintenance of application system documentation and update knowledge base when applicable.
    • Work closely with the RHG leadership and Systems Administrator to ensure proper documentation and workflows are understood and communicated to ensure staff is knowledgeable regarding existing and updated workflows within applications.
    • Maintain current knowledge of new software application releases as well as publish notes and develop reference material for the clinic staff and any healthcare practitioners
    • In collaboration with Operations, Administrative support, and Subject Matter Experts, partner with Leadership to liaise between design, function, and delivery of training curricula to create a measurable resource.
    • Develop Train the Trainer courses for the following roles:
      • Practice Managers
      • Medical Assistants
      • Front Desk Staff
      • Nurse care managers
      • Referral Coordinators
      • Fax Coordinators
      • Advanced Practice Providers
      • Physicians
    • Align training curricula with company policies and procedures.
    • Adapt training programs and materials in response to regulatory, policy, and procedure changes
    • Identify common errors and develop training to address errors by recommending work process changes and unique training programs to Instructional Design team to improve efficiency.
    • Remain current in industry trends and technology solutions
    • Effectively manage training projects to meet deadlines.
    • Report outcomes of training sessions to Training Department and Senior leaders.
    • Assist in the implementation of software enhancements and new features.
    • Lead efforts to develop and maintain training manuals and other presentation materials.
    • Collaborate with leadership to develop competencies utilized by preceptors during onboarding.
    • Identify common employee performance errors and partner with Leadership to create and/or modify training to address errors.
    • Evaluate and recommend improvements to training structure and programs, as well as policies and procedures for departments within the company.
    • Develop and lead implementation of the New Hire Training Program, and Cross Training Program
    • Collect, review, and report on feedback/survey review from new hires and cross-trainees; as well as recommend a strategy for new and/or revised goals if needed.
    • Conduct monthly Market Review Meetings with VPs, Directors, and Center Administrators on KPIs
    • Partner with SME’s and EHR database administrators and leadership to remain current in clinical workflows and processes.
    • Maintain and conduct routine up-to-date training and proficiency with the assigned market’s Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
    • Lead all efforts and maintain training for all preceptors

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Instructional Design, Education, Health Information Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field OR a combination of education and practical work experience in education in a healthcare environment.
    • 5 years of experience in a physician practice or urgent care setting
    • Experience with eClinicalWorks required
    • Experience with MedTrainer LMS preferred

    Must have:

    • Expert knowledge of business office standards and recommended practices
    • Ability to collaborate with and educate clinic staff and providers regarding EHR Systems and applications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong facilitation skills
    • High level of fluency in course authoring software
    • Creative and excellence in the development of education materials in various modes (i.e., PowerPoint, instructional videos, user guides, etc.)
    • Excellent critical thinking skills
    • Dedicated to continuous improvement
    • Be organized; able to set priorities and meet deadlines
    • Proficient computer skills in eCW, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
    • Must be able to work in a team environment and exhibit flexibility and enthusiasm in learning new information and developing new skills quickly
