We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Certified Driver Trainer to join our team in our California area. This role is responsible for providing training and support to our Propane Delivery Drivers to ensure they are well equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitude to perform their duties safely and efficiently. As a Certified Driver Trainer, you will be responsible for onboarding training of new employees, coaching and assisting current drivers, and participating in on-going training activities to escalate the overall performance of the team.
Pay Range: $58,000-$63,000
Essential Job Duties:

• Conduct new employee orientation to ensure new drivers are familiar with company policies, procedures, and equipment
• Develop and deliver training programs that cover topics such as safe driving practices, product knowledge, customer service, and company policies and procedures
• Provide coaching and support to current drivers to help them improve their skills and overcome any operational challenges they may face
• Conduct on-site assessments to identify areas of improvement and develop action plans to address these issues
• Monitor driver performance to identify any unsafe practices and take corrective action as needed
• Participate in driver safety meetings and contribute to the development of safety policies and procedures
• Perform evaluations through checklists and observation, as well as documenting progress
• Monitor training progress, identify any gaps and provide additional assistance as necessary
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records and documentation
• Work with the management team to identify training needs and develop training programs to address these needs
• Demonstrate empathy with students while emphasizing that the principles and practices of safe commercial vehicle driving are critical elements
• Participate in ongoing training to stay up to date on industry trends and best practices
• Able to work on-call to drive routes for area as needed

Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:

• Valid CDL Class A or B driver's license with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements
• Must be physically able to operate motor vehicle
• Experience teaching professional classes related to the field/trade of CDL is a plus
• Knowledge of teaching techniques, theories and subject matter
• Experience assisting in developing curriculum and individualized learning plans for higher levels of learning a plus
• Ability to instruct groups from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to travel to different locations for training purposes
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to quickly build rapport and earn trust
• Can exercise patience and should exude a passion for teaching and coaching
• Should possess the necessary disciplined technical skills to effectively teach students in all aspects of how to safely operate a commercial rated vehicle in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Ability to analyze situations, details, and performance to best guide development in areas where learning gaps might be noticeable, and to identify and resolve issues that evolve during the training process
• Ability to organize training plans based on the targeted curriculum to achieve the desired result of providing the best Delivery Drivers for ThompsonGas
