Certified EHR Trainer conducts technical training programs for end users of EHR (electronic health record) software applications. Determines training objectives and creates lesson plans and other materials needed for training. Being a Certified EHR Trainer configures the training environment to ensure end-users can practice using EHR software both inside and outside of the classroom. Designs and delivers new hire training and ongoing user training during system changes and upgrades. Additionally, Certified EHR Trainer may be responsible for implementing a credentialed trainer program that ensures EHR instructors have the required level of system knowledge to effectively deliver training. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Typically requires Epic/Cerner or similar certification. The Certified EHR Trainer gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. EHR Implementation - Training Manager

    Summary of Essential Functions:
    • Responsible for communicating training Epic training policies and procedures across the organization and for overall coordination of training activities and trainers.
    • Responsible for the overall implementation of  the Epic end-user training program as well as ongoing education and maintenance of the training program after go-live.
    • Responsible for determining required training resources, directing and managing training team staffing, and securing facilities and eq2uipment for classroom training.
    • Determines curriculum delivery methods, oversees the creation and maintenance of a realistic training environment, creates a course catalog and training schedule, and ensures all users are trained before they access the production environment. 
    Educational Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Bachelor’s Degree required.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
     Licensure and Certifications:
    • Must complete education and pass certification in assigned EPIC application module(s) within 120 days of completed education.
     Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Experience with technology or healthcare strongly desired
    • Existing knowledge of organizational culture, personnel, processes strongly desired
    • Capacity to manage multiple competing objectives and to clearly communicate results
    • Ability to lead others and to communicate the importance of training to all stakeholders
    • Experience with project management, adult education, and curriculum delivery
    • Strong organizational and coordination skills; ability to sequence activities logically
    • Ability to develop and adhere to time schedules in order to meet project deadlines
    • Interpersonal skills to function well in administrative, management, and patient care environments
    • Ability to work effectively with staff that have a wide range of seniority
    • Knowledge of and the ability to use PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software to create teaching and learning materials and documentation
     Physical Requirements:
    • Primarily works the day shift tour of duty; additional hours may be asked to work other hours as needed, including weekends.
    • Will be required to take rotating call to support the applications
    • May be expected to lift over twenty five (25) pounds.
    • Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols.
    • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers.
    • Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks.
    • Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range.
    • Extended periods of sitting and/or walking depending on specific duties. 
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Securing and maintaining a Learning Management System (LMS)
    • Manage the Epic training environment
    • Manage the training team
    • Develop training programs
    • Act as a change management and transition team after go-live
    • Provide long-term training management and leadership
    Performs other tasks/responsibilities as necessary
