Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. The Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) works under the supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON) and is responsible for providing resident care to residents in accordance with resident assessments, care plans and as directed by nursing management. The CMA role incorporates the responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant but also medication administration in accordance with state and company policy. CMAs are responsible for understanding their authorized scope of practice in all areas of resident care with a special emphasis on the administration of medications within approved guidelines under the direction of the DON or other designated licensed nurse. CMAs must be licensed in the state of Arizona and must meet all prior requirements in order to obtain such licensure.
