Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. The Certified Medication Technician administers and monitors administration of Resident medication and treatment and provides nursing and related nursing services to residents consistent with each resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care. Also provides direct resident care and ensures that same is provided in a manner that meets the resident’s physical, mental and psycho social needs and enables the individual to attain or maintain the highest practicable level of functioning.
Minimum of six months experience as Certified Nursing Assistant and certified by state as a Certified Medication Technician.
