Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager.     JOB SUMMARY:

    Essential Functions of Pharmacy Technician - Certified

    • Take all steps required to fill prescriptions in compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures regarding the sale of pharmaceuticals
    • Responds to telephone requests from customers, physicians and vendors, within the scope of the law and defers to the pharmacist when necessary.
    • Communicates and cooperates with peers, subordinates, managers, physicians, and customers in all pharmacy related areas in a courteous and professional manner
    • Assist with monthly CII audits.
    • Understands correct procedures for billing, filling and dispensing products.
    • Ensures timely implementation of company policies, procedures and programs; and enforces professional and operational standards, including compliance with legal regulations.
    • Maintains all state and federal record keeping for controlled substances.
    • Stocks pharmacy product orders to specific bay locations.
    • Helps train other pharmacy technicians and abides by state regulations regarding technician training and licensure.
    • Maintains inventory levels to company goals, rotates stock, and utilizes RX return process.
    • Adheres to Department Appearance Standards (DAS) and dress code standards.
    • Pharmacy Technicians perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, Store Director, Pharmacy Operations Manager, Corporate Management.
    • Participates in all company sponsored programs.


    Environmental Factors

    • Pharmacy Technicians have exposure to cleaning chemicals and to blood borne pathogens


    Job Requirements

    • Must hold a valid Pharmacy Technician license (CPhT) in the State of Utah.
    • Must complete continuing education hours as required by law.
    • Ability to readily adapt to changes in schedule specifications, and work priorities as the business and customer needs demand.
    • Ability to cooperate with others and work as part of a team.
    • Must complete all required state, federal and company training programs.
