Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager.     What we’re looking for and what you’ll do Our Medication Aides are extremely detail-oriented and possess in-depth knowledge of patient care procedures.

    Providing excellent patient care is a vital part of this job, which is why excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed as well as the following :

    • Deliver routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to patients.
    • Coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care and medications.
    • Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
    • Record medication dosages and times.
    • Observe patients and document changes in their condition.

    Qualifications / Requirements :

    • Must be, as a minimum, a Medication Assistant, Certified (MAC)
    • Must possess a valid and current certificate in Medication Administration for State
    • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
    • Must be a minimum of twenty (20) years of age
    • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
    • Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward the elderly and disabled
