Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. The Medication Technician is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely distribution of medications to residents as per physician orders and company policies. This role involves adhering to medication practices outlined in Medication Training, Company Policy, and Title 22 Regulations, while also maintaining effective communication with healthcare professionals, residents, and their families. Additionally, the Medication Technician assists residents with various Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and ensures their safety and well-being. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a compassionate approach to resident care. The Medication Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of residents within the community. Work with residents living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and/or memory-impaired, with chemical dependency, or similar issues under the direction of the Medication Manager/Director of Resident Services. May also provide emotional support and enrichment while monitoring the resident’s health and notify management of any changes in condition.
