Certified Nurse Anesthetist prepares prescribed solutions and administers anesthetic following specified methods and procedures. Informs physician of patient's condition during anesthesia. Being a Certified Nurse Anesthetist performs pre- and post-anesthesia patient visits and documents anesthesia notes on patient records. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Certified Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). This would be an exempt position paying $1800 per shift. A shift is defined as operating room hours beginning at 0700 and ending at 1700.
Summary/objective
Provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations during the intra – operative period. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment and Anesthesia care. Communicates with the surgeon, Circulating Nurse, and preoperative staff concerning patient’s health, including laboratory results, preoperative orders, and psychological state. Induce and administer several types of Anesthesia based on patient need, under the supervision of the surgeon or attending physician responsible for the patient. Assess the patient in Post – anesthesia Recovery for release back to patient room. Assists with maintenance and supplies for the Anesthesia cart. Ensures that all appropriate paperwork is properly completed prior to transport of the patient to surgery. Verifies appropriate procedure including surgical site and side marking is completed prior to induction of Anesthesia.
