Responsibilities

Preoperative/preprocedural

• Provide patient education and counseling
• Perform a comprehensive history and physical examination, assessment and evaluation
• In consultation with the Attending Anesthesiologist, develop a comprehensive patient-specific plan for anesthesia, analgesia, multimodal pain management and recovery
• Obtain informed consent for anesthesia
• Select, order, prescribe and administer preanesthetic medications, including controlled substances

Intraoperative

• Implement a patient-specific plan of care which may involve various anesthetic techniques including general, regional and local anesthesia, sedation and multimodal pain management
• Select, order, prescribe and administer anesthetic medications, including controlled substances, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, and fluids
• Select, insert and maintain monitoring modalities

Postoperative/postprocedural

• Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia
• Select, order, prescribe and administer postanesthetic medications including controlled substances
• Conduct post anesthesia evaluation
• Educate the patient related to recovery

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with active license in the state of New Jersey
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the state of New Jersey
• Graduate of an accredited CRNA program
• BLS and ACLS certified
