Certified Nurse Midwife provides professional care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs. Assists patients in labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care. Being a Certified Nurse Midwife ensures safety and health of mother and child and identifies need for additional care. Works in conjunction with a practicing physician. POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide health care service to patients at CHI Outpatients facilities, including labor and delivery in hospitals with the knowledge and skill expected in the professional medical community.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Graduate from an accredited RN Program. Graduate from a Nurse-Midwifery Program.
Licensure / Certification:
Certified by the American College of Nurse Mid-Wife; Current Florida ARNP License, maintain current CPR Adult and Neonate certification from the American Heart Association.
Skills / Ability:
Ability to work sensitively with diverse cultures, with energy, initiate and self-assertiveness.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (THIS IS A EXEMPT POSITION)
Delivery of obstetrical patients.
Provision of Prenatal and GYN Care, Health Care Teaching and counseling throughout CHI Outpatient facilities.
Participation in the on-call rotation system to provide delivery services at Homestead Hospital and Jackson South Community Hospital.
Reviews Quality Care Guidelines/Patient Reminder print-out or electronically to identify overdue items (tests and other health maintenance procedures).
Ensures that PFSS and Nursing staff appropriately address overdue health maintenance tests and procedures.
Provides constructive feedback to PFSS and Nursing Staff when overdue items are not appropriately addressed.
Prescribe medication according to protocol.
Maintain complete records of medical care in SOAP format.
Develop with the client and family a comprehensive health care plan for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and family planning.
Work with other professionals and agencies to provide health related services, i.e. Healthy Start, Case Management, Social Services, WIC, and Public Health.
Demonstrates knowledge of CHI’s Quality of Care Indicators including the UDS Clinical Measures.
Meets goals for Pap testing in females ages 13 – up.
Meets goals for Mammography testing in females age >40.
Meets goals for Depression screening and prevalence in adults.
Meets goals for Dental visit compliance.
Meets goals for other CHI Quality of Care Indicators pertinent to specialty.
Maintain open communication with physicians, nurses, co-workers and clinic staff.
Provide coverage wherever needed.
Provide for professional growth by participating in continuing education meetings.
Participate in community education programs, i.e. prenatal classes.
Comply with guidelines for provider’s productivity as established for CHC’s performance.
Performance measures for mid-level practitioners.
Update CHI, CNM guidelines yearly.
Participates in the development, and the assessment of the effectiveness, of practice guidelines to improve care outcomes.
Effectively and promptly reacts to abnormal physical, lab or procedures findings based on evidence based guidelines.
Effectively empowers patients to be involved in their care including involving patients in self management goal setting.
Consistently completes documentation in the EHR in the patient’s exam room.
Completes all patient orders for nursing care promptly and in the EHR as appropriate.
Appropriately documents a patient’s visit base on the reason for visit. (Does not over-document or under-document).
Effectively utilizes time spent with patient to address issues that cannot be effectively addressed by support staff.
Attends at least four ground rounds per year.
Maintains 100% productivity monthly.
Reports to work on time and ready to work with minimal absenteeism.
Completes B&E (billing and encounter) forms within the same day of intervention.
Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient charts within the same day of intervention.
Adhere to Confidentiality Policies and Procedures / HIPAA Regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
