Occupational Therapist (COTA) PRN Available
The primary purpose of the position is providing and directing occupational therapy services to patients which may include pediatric, adult and/or geriatric persons. The goal of helping them reach their maximum performance potential within a medical model of practice shall occur.QUALIFICATIONS:Someone performing these duties should be in good physical condition and possess the following physical capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodations- MS/OTD in Occupational Therapy or BS with equivalent work experience
- Successful completion of State Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy
- Must maintain valid state licensure
- Use of proper body mechanics and techniques for bearing weight
- Lift objects weighing 50-100 pounds or more
- Push or pull force up to 35 lbs.
Job Responsibilities- Provides occupational therapy services to patients and initiates referrals when appropriate and in accordance with Occupational Therapy Department Procedures.
- Evaluates patients to obtain data necessary for treatment planning and implementation. Conducts specialized evaluations as indicated.
- Interprets and communicates evaluation findings to patients, families, and other team members.
- Develops treatment plan by identifying a target list, including short and long term goals and methods to achieve identified goals.
- Monitors patient’s response to intervention and modifies treatment as indicated to attain goals in accordance with plan and physician orders.
- Must be able to work independently with periodic (daily or less) support and directions.
- Documents all results of patient’s assessment, treatment, follow-up and termination of services.
- Adapts treatment to meet the individual needs of the patient.
- Provides, recommends, fabricates adaptive devices, or other equipment. Trains patients, family, and staff in the use or application of orthotics and prosthetics.
- Adheres to all documentation requirements of Rehabilitation department, facility, and company.
- Contributes to a positive work team by sharing information, using problem-solving methods, accepting new ideas, constructive feedback and advice from others.
