Prepares adaptive equipment used during treatment and supports patient activities. Being a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant documents therapeutic activities and details of patients progress. Requires an associate degree. Additionally, Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant requires NBCOT Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) certification. Typically reports to an occupational therapist. Summary of Primary Function
Provides skilled therapeutic to patients through the use of their educational knowledge, skill, and ability. This may involve outpatients, inpatients, pediatrics and in off-site locations. Services the patients as a part of the entire continuum of professional care.
Essential Job Functions
Assists in the performance of occupational therapy activities as assigned by the Occupational Therapist. Prepares treatment areas, patients, and equipment for treatments.
Instructs patients on segments of the program as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
Maintains accurate and concise records on treatment provided and patient's progress.
Maintains set level of productivity without jeopardizing quality. Delivers efficient and effective care to patients meeting and exceeding department standards.
Maintains departmental policies and procedures regarding safety, infection control, time off requests and timecard recording. This will include all necessary education and yearly compliance requirements.
