Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant assists an Occupational Therapist with rehabilitative activities for patients who may have developmental, physical and emotional impairments or who are recovering from injury. Prepares adaptive equipment used during treatment and supports patient activities. Being a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant documents therapeutic activities and details of patients progress. Requires an associate degree. Additionally, Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant requires NBCOT Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) certification. Typically reports to an occupational therapist. Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. We give our Therapists the freedom of creating their own schedules, but we take care of building the caseload in the areas they choose to serve. We handle the credentialing, billing, and have clinical rounds so our Speech, Occupational, Behavior and Physical Therapists can work together and collaborate to create a customized Plan of Care together.
