Certified Respiratory Therapist assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Being a Certified Respiratory Therapist also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is an impairment. Requires an associate degree and a credential of Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). Additionally, Certified Respiratory Therapist may be expected to maintain a CPR certification. Typically reports to a manager. Certified Respiratory Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Certified Respiratory Therapist works collaboratively with other members of the health care team to implement age specific cardiopulmonary oriented patient care. The therapist ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with departmental standards of care. The therapist demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the assigned unit and the organization. He/She remains flexible to changing systems and is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice, and treat staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Minimum Qualifications: Current WA State Certification; BLS; ACLS; PALS; NRP. Six months to one year related experience. Prefer AA Degree or equivalent from two-year college (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Three plus years acute respiratory care experience including neonatal and critical care.
This is a Union Position.
