Certified Respiratory Therapist assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Being a Certified Respiratory Therapist also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is an impairment. Requires an associate degree and a credential of Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). Additionally, Certified Respiratory Therapist may be expected to maintain a CPR certification. Typically reports to a manager. Certified Respiratory Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. This position performs all cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures and delivers all modalities of respiratory care from the basic to advanced. Provides the highest level of appropriate patient care from the newborn through the geriatric patient in all areas of the hospital to include ER patients, in-patients, and out-patients.
Must have an Associate's Degree (for Certified Respiratory Therapist) or a Bachelor's Degree (for Registered Respiratory Therapist), NBRC Credentials, current Wyoming licensure as a Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist, CPR certifications, and ACLS, NRP, and PALS (within 6 months of employment). Previous experience preferred.
