Certified Respiratory Therapist assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Being a Certified Respiratory Therapist also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is an impairment. Requires an associate degree and a credential of Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). Additionally, Certified Respiratory Therapist may be expected to maintain a CPR certification. Typically reports to a manager. Certified Respiratory Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Position Summary
The Certified Respiratory Therapist II will provide services, timely and efficiently, at appropriate levels to all patients and in all settings served by the department. The Certified Respiratory Therapist will also perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Respiratory Care Department’s Policy and Procedure Manual and will be assigned additional administrative or clinically focused tasks, both basic and advanced, to be performed on an ongoing basis and in accordance with training and experience. Examples may include but are not limited to Echocardiography, Electroencephalography, etc. The Certified Respiratory Therapist will maintain clinical competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs. The Certified Respiratory Therapist should also be able to provide advanced clinical expertise and education to departmental staff members

Certification-National Board for Respiratory Care (preferred)
Certification-Basic Life Support (CPR) by end of orientation
