The Money Management Program at Friends for Life acts as representative payee for seniors and adults with disabilities who are at risk of losing independence due to their inability to manage financial matters or their vulnerability to being exploited. Some of the people in this program have a stable life with all their needs met for the first time in years. This is a very rewarding position for the right person.
This position will work with clients in an assigned caseload, including but not limited to preparing a simple budget based on each individual's income and expenses, communicating with the client over the telephone, and hopefully saving a portion of monthly income for emergencies and/or enrichment activities. Actions are documented in an online software database system. Support Staff pay all the bills, reconcile accounts and maintain other client files at the program specialist's direction.
The desire to help vulnerable people is a must for this position as well as people and telephone skills. Experience working with people with disabilities/special needs is desired.
