An Excellent Opportunity

Mountain Valley is currently seeking a Hospice Chaplain to work in our Martinsville service area. The individual in this position will provide spiritual care support that honors the patient’s beliefs and values.

Duties

• Develop the spiritual plan of care for all faiths/non-faiths to patients and families/caregivers in a holistic manner as requested.
• Visit patients and families identified for pastoral services and provide direct spiritual counsel, prayer, and ministry as appropriate.
• Maintain regular visits and communication according to patient, family and facility needs.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and advocate for patient needs.
• Conducts or makes arrangements for funeral or memorial service as needed.
Maintains appropriate documentation in a timely manner.

• Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to offer compassionate support to individuals in distress.
• Knowledge of diverse religious and spiritual practices and a commitment to respecting patients' beliefs.
• Sensitivity to the emotional and psychological needs of patients and their families.
The willingness and ability to travel to patients homes, SNFs ALFs, hospitals, etc..
