Position Summary
As a collaborative member of the Department of Pastoral Services, the staff chaplain provides and enables pastoral care services to patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Details
Demonstrates responsible use of LRH's resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities.- Knows and adheres to organizational and department policies and procedures.
- Standard Work Duties: Chaplain
- Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates ability to assess, develop, and implement spiritual care plans to meet the needs of the patients, families and hospital staff.
- Coordinates and collaborates with other professionals in the provision of care.
- Documents the provision of services in the appropriate format for the service provided.
- Demonstrates knowledge and sensitivity to diverse faith groups represented in patient and staff populations while maintaining close contact with area clergy and religious institutions to facilitate and enhance patient care.
- Provides on-call emergency services as scheduled and participates in the departmental emergency management response.
- Participates in system-wide initiatives to provide a pastoral perspective. i.e. IRB, Patient Safety, Cultural Diversity, etc. and demonstrates initiative and creativity to develop, integrate and enhance spiritual care services as a part of the overall mission of the health system.
- Provides educational leadership within the hospital and the community in topics directly applicable to spiritual care.
- Serve as a mentor to Clinical Pastoral Education interns and residents.
Qualifications & Experience
Education Essential:
- Master Level Theological degree from an institution accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
- Completed 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education from a center accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education.
Experience Preferred:- Two years of experience as a chaplain in a clinical setting.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
Certifications Essential:
- Board certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains, Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or National Association of Jewish Chaplains, or eligible for certification after a year of experience. This includes successful completion of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education and adherence to the Common Code of Ethics for Chaplains, Pastoral Counselors, Pastoral Educators and Students.
