Charge Nurse jobs in Abilene, TX
Charge Nurse plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Being a Charge Nurse assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Additionally, Charge Nurse requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Charge Nurse supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Charge Nurse typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Responsibilities:
Give direction to Nurse Aides for appropriate care of residents.
Properly administer resident medication.
Implement resident care plans in compliance with Company and federal guidelines and physician's orders.
Perform treatments.
Accurately and promptly transcribe physician orders.
Timely and accurate documentation of residents' charts. Complete Nursing assessment as required.
Participate in shift reports.
Implement established nursing policy and procedures, educating support staff regarding care needs of residents.
Maintain a safe working environment, complying with infection control and body mechanic procedures.
Respond to the need for staffing shortages by arranging for replacement staff.
Requirements:
Registered Nurse or Licensed /Vocational Nurse in good standing.
Excellent technical, assessment and documentation skills.
Good communication skills.
Ability to organize workflow, respond to emergencies and note detail.
