Charge Nurse plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Being a Charge Nurse assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Additionally, Charge Nurse requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Charge Nurse supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Charge Nurse typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. OVERVIEW
Charge Nurses at Wellsential Healthcare are leaders and teachers to the Certified Nurse Aides and Certified Medication Aides.
LVNs and RNs partner closely with CNAs and CMAs to ensuring the provision of quality care that promotes the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychological well-being of each resident as determined by resident assessments and individual plans of care. Charge Nurses must have strong communication skills as they work closely with family members and doctors to discuss the needs and any change in the condition of the residents.

Must have completed an RN or LVN program at an accredited vocational schools, college, or university
Licensing Requirements
Must possess a current and valid Texas RN or LVN Licensure
