Charge Nurse plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Being a Charge Nurse assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Additionally, Charge Nurse requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Charge Nurse supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Charge Nurse typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with new admissions
- Coordinate order processing
- Conduct care conferences
- Work closely with physicians
- Obtain prescriptions from doctors as needed
- Assess residents per request
- Hire and train staff related to treatments needed by residents and medication pass
- Monitor monthly vital sheets and make recommendations to tenants regarding overall health
- Communicate to Director what follow-up will be needed over the week
- Creating important policies and procedures for medical staff
- Budgeting and creating financial reports for executives
- Setting performance goals for nurses and other employees
- Conducting performance evaluations for nurses and other team members
- Ensuring the department is keeping accurate patient records
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:- Valid WI RN License
