    SUMMARY

    The Business Development Manager is a leadership role focused on effective growth of the debit portfolio by collaborating with industry leaders, business partners, and vendors to develop strategies that optimize revenue while driving continuous product improvement that supports a best-in-class debit issuer. This individual is responsible to lead the research, ideation, development and coordination of growth and performance initiatives through various delivery methods. Additionally, this individual is charged with keeping abreast of debit payment innovation in the marketplace, gathering industry data and market feedback, and partnering with key stakeholders and vendors to deliver competitive, viable products that meet client needs, improve experience and drive engagement, in partnership with the Director of Payment Services and Deposit Operations. This leader provides direct oversight, direction and expansion of the debit program and product development to drive acquisition, delivery, and active cardholder participation.

    The Business Development Manager is responsible for monitoring performance and engaging partners to drive portfolio penetration, optimize engagement, enhance product design and delivery, while supporting cross-sell opportunities with other First Interstate Bank services.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of the debit card industry, trends, regulations, card and network financial drivers, as well as debit engagement and portfolio management.
    • Curious, aware, and self-driven to seek solutions for client needs at every stage of their financial journey to drive a client-focused growth strategy.
    • Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of products and services as well as knowledge of competitors and competitive products to drive creativity and innovation of business line offers.
    • Partners with Portfolio Analytics leveraging industry and portfolio data to manage debit card program by monitoring performance, identifying opportunities for improvements, and developing action plans for resolution while driving productivity, quality, and high service standards to deliver an excellent client experience.
    • Confident, energetic self-starter, with strong moderation and communication skills that exhibit superior presentation expertise, including storytelling and other techniques to guide and motivate action.
    • Collaborates with market leadership, marketing, communications, digital delivery, data analytics and vendors to deliver on growth goals, education, communication initiatives to achieve strategic growth performance objectives.
    • Provide strategic, data-driven, and well-organized leadership for debit card line of business on bank initiatives to align with the bank's commitment to deliver a positive employee and client experience while ensuring operational integrity, risk mitigation, and financial performance.
    • Leading contributor to the design, development, implementation, utilization, documentation and support of card systems and programs managed by Payment Services and Deposit Operations.
    • Use project management skills to define, scope and lead initiatives related to business growth, system integrations, enhancements, conversions, and process improvements.
    • Must foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment within the team and with all internal and external client interactions.
    • Leads and participates in projects designated to improve client or banker experience, programs, tools, systems and processes.
    • Coach employees for best-in-class client experience and business development interactions.
    • Ensures compliance with all internal policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
    • Ensures responsibilities are completed in accordance with established service level agreements.
    • Participates in internal and external training to maintain knowledge of Bank programs, industry trends and leadership development; keeps abreast of all Bank and credit policies and changes.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries of complaints of customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
