POSITION: OUTREACH COUNSELOR
STATUS: EXEMPT
SALARY RANGE: $43, 000 - $46, 000
LOCATION: Biloxi Office
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Senior Counselor
HOURS: Full-Time 40-hour work week Monday - Friday, some evening and weekend work may be required.
SUMMARY: Provide counseling and advocacy services to adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual assault who are seeking services on a non-residential basis.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum requirement of a Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related discipline from an accredited program and possess license to practice in Mississippi. Minimum of two (2) years of related credentialed experience.
Must have vast knowledge of method and implementation of treatment interventions relevant to working with trauma survivors.
Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of clients, staff and individuals in the community.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment
Ability to express complex information and ideas both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work within agency mission, philosophy and policies/procedures.
Must have a reliable vehicle and meet agency driving policy requirements, including a valid driver license and proof of required automobile insurance. Travel required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
CLINICAL
· Provide individual, group, and family counseling, advocacy, and case management services for adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
· Complete initial intake assessment for all new non-residential clients
· Complete service plan with each client in designated time frame. Conduct periodic review of treatment plan.
· Work with the Clinical staff at the Center to facilitate counseling services for clients in emergency shelter and continuous services for clients re-entering the community from the shelter
· Accompany clients to court/legal proceedings as needed
· Act as liaison with community agencies and referral sources to better serve clients
· Make appropriate client referrals for other needed services
· Attend and participate in weekly clinical supervision meetings
· Provide in-house training programs/events for staff, board members, volunteers and students
· Provide presentations and conduct other public relations activities as requested
· Participate in yearly Department of Mental Health training for all necessary personnel.
· Participate in monthly Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings.
· Maintain timely documentation of client activities per Department of Mental Health’s record keeping criteria
· Provide professional backup per established schedule
COMMUNITY RELATIONS
· Develop and maintain referral sources within designated service area
· Participate in community education events
