    Job Summary:

    The Information Technology Director is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership position that manages the IT team, maintains the IT infrastructure of the Company, understands business principles, and plays a pivotal role in the strategic planning, optimization, security, coordination, and management of the Company’s technology resources and intellectual property. The IT Director reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and works closely with department managers to ensure technology solutions are efficient and effective in supporting their operational business needs. The IT Director works closely with the CIO to lead the Company’s digital transformation initiatives and help the Company achieve its objectives of becoming a data-driven business that operates in an automated and efficient manner. Primary responsibilities include (i) working with senior managers to manage the Company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and its multitude of integrated software applications, (ii) preparing ERP standard operating procedures (SOPs), (iii) training employees on ERP procedures and other software applications, (iv) tracking, managing, and maintaining PC and telecommunication hardware and software assets in excellent working order, (v) cybersecurity, (vi) developing innovative solutions to business problems, (vii) vetting potential software applications, and (viii) familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to determine where it could add value in the Company’s business processes. The IT Director, along with the CIO, will cultivate a high-performing team and an enjoyable work environment that meets or exceeds its internal and external customer needs.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Manage the scheduling, assignments, and daily activities of the four-person IT Team
    • Work with the Human Resources team to recruit, interview, hire, and train new team members.
    • Work with CIO to provide mentorship, coaching, guidance, and support to IT team members, and to establish and maintain an enjoyable work environment and high-performing team.
    • Administer the performance management and appraisal process, which includes SMART goals and objectives, 360 reviews, timely employee feedback, and disciplinary measures as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with other department managers and/or outside stakeholders to foster cross-functional teamwork in solving business challenges.
    • Oversee the Managed Service Provider (MSP), which provides software development and IT Help Desk services.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • IT security and cybersecurity administrator (i.e., risk management).
      • Maintain and update IT security and cybersecurity policies.
      • Conduct and manage quarterly employee testing program pursuant to Cybersecurity Policy.
      • Oversee cybersecurity risk management program and mitigant solutions.
      • Maintain network penetration defenses to protect against internal and external threats.
      • Manage the application software security function.
    • Network systems administration (to ensure optimal and reliable performance) including:
      • Hardware management including physical and cloud servers, routers, PCs, firewalls, switches, virtual machine hosts, etc.
      • Software management including ERP and software integration activities.
      • Data management and analysis.
      • Help Desk management.
    • IT vendor management, including contract management, cost analysis, controls, and relationship management.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Outstanding people skills that include:
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including through multiple media outlets.
      • Ability to translate complex technology matters into terms understandable to non-technical people.
      • Self-motivated individual with and ability to work collaboratively in a team-first environment.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Possess the necessary business acumen to understand the business and user’s specific needs, and then apply appropriate technology-based solutions.
    • Relevant technical skills and managerial experience in:
      • Cloud computing.
      • Project management methodologies, including cost/benefit analysis.
      • Education and training (i.e., user adoption programs and implementation).
        • Ability to develop and present effective employee training programs.
        • Ability to bridge the gap between technical documents and user standard operating procedures.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
      • Software evaluation skills and ability to efficiently vet software applications (e.g., Headlight Solutions) that could help achieve automation and efficiency goals and objectives.
      • Ability to quickly learn software applications.
      • Ability to problem solve.
    • Initiate automation efforts to support the Company’s three main goals and objectives (i.e., data-driven, efficiency/automation, and sharing the knowledge).
    • Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and potential applications.
    • Financial skills to prepare budgets, explain budget and prior period variances, and manage expenses.
    • Must be able to pass a 10 panel controlled substance testing and random testing after that.
    • Must be able to pass a background investigation check and maintain in good standing order, as per TSA’s TWIC criteria.

    Education and Experience:

    • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or another technology-related field is required.
    • Minimum of ten years of experience in the IT field.
    • Minimum of five years of experience in a managing role of an IT department.
    • Proven track record of progressively responsible IT leadership/management roles.
    • Specific experience:
      • Sage-X3 ERP application.
      • Sage Data & Analytics.
      • SAP Crystal reports.
      • Altec DocAlpha/DocLink applications.
      • TEMA Transportation Management Suite (TMS) application.
      • Office 365/SharePoint/Teams applications.

    Travel Requirements:

    • This role requires traveling to the Company’s other two locations.
    • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for this role.

    Physical Requirements:

    • The IT Director must be capable of performing tasks that involve standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
