Chemical Engineer conducts research and development projects involving the study of chemical reactions and material properties to innovate and develop new products or optimize existing products. Designs experiments and builds prototypes and models used to investigate and support the development of improved chemicals, materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Being a Chemical Engineer compiles and analyzes testing data. Presents research results used to estimate costs, establish performance standards, identify solutions, and facilitate processes. Additionally, Chemical Engineer maintains lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal. Complies with all safety and environmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Chemical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     In this hands-on role, you will contribute directly to maximizing our metal recovery yield. You will work closely with senior engineers and operations personnel to troubleshoot process challenges, analyze data, and implement data-driven improvements to our digestion and separation systems. You'll ensure consistent product quality, minimize waste generation, and prioritize process safety.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Support senior engineers in the design, development, and optimization of metal-bearing concentrate digestion and separation processes. 
    • Leverage your chemical engineering background to analyze process data, identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement in areas like yield, efficiency, and waste minimization. 
    • Develop and implement control procedures to ensure consistent product quality and optimal metal recovery rates. 
    • Collaborate with operations to troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve process upsets. 
    • Participate in laboratory testing and pilot studies to evaluate the effectiveness of new technologies and process modifications. 
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date process documentation, including flowsheets, operating procedures, and technical reports. 
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive safety procedures for the digestion and separation processes. 
    • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, maintaining a strong safety mindset.  


    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with a strong foundation in chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and mass/heat transfer. 
    • 0-2 years of experience in a relevant industrial setting (preferred, but strong academic background can be considered). 
    • Solid understanding of chemical principles related to leaching, precipitation, and other metal extraction techniques. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with chemical process simulation software (a plus). 
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach. 
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly document processes and effectively communicate findings.
