Chemical Engineer conducts research and development projects involving the study of chemical reactions and material properties to innovate and develop new products or optimize existing products. Designs experiments and builds prototypes and models used to investigate and support the development of improved chemicals, materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Being a Chemical Engineer compiles and analyzes testing data. Presents research results used to estimate costs, establish performance standards, identify solutions, and facilitate processes. Additionally, Chemical Engineer maintains lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal. Complies with all safety and environmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Chemical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Chem Bay Operator
DIVISION: CropsREPORTS TO: Plant Manager STATUS: Non-Exempt
Position OverviewRun chemical bay effectively and efficiently to keep product to the operators and keep equipment in chemical bay running properly.
Essential Job Functions- Blend chemicals according to recommended rates and procedures
- Responsible for inventory control
- Records and tracks application loads sent out to operators
- Prepares material handling, blending and storage equipment for blending and delivery of product
- Mixing and loading dry fertilizer
- Repairs and rebuilds equipment as needed
Requirements- Have, or be able to obtain, a CDL and commercial applicator’s license
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 pounds
- Must be able to work hours other than those considered normal to meet seasonal demands
- Demonstrate basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals along with the ability to compute rate, ratio and percent
Other Skills/Abilities- Proven professional communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Basic computer skills as they relate to the custom application business
- All other duties as assigned
