Chemical Engineer conducts research and development projects involving the study of chemical reactions and material properties to innovate and develop new products or optimize existing products. Designs experiments and builds prototypes and models used to investigate and support the development of improved chemicals, materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Being a Chemical Engineer compiles and analyzes testing data. Presents research results used to estimate costs, establish performance standards, identify solutions, and facilitate processes. Additionally, Chemical Engineer maintains lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal. Complies with all safety and environmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Chemical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. The focus of the position will be to execute projects within UCC’s Project Management and Contract Engineering (PMCE) teams. Primary responsibilities will include technically supporting contact execution activities within the power industry, utility and industrial wastewater treatment markets, often acting in the role of technical lead engineer/project engineer. The role may also include onsite assignments for customer meetings, sampling efforts, site walk downs, and/or project support.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in collaborating with others to perform engineering tasks within a team environment. Work experience with a privately held company will be beneficial.
