Chemical Engineer conducts research and development projects involving the study of chemical reactions and material properties to innovate and develop new products or optimize existing products. Designs experiments and builds prototypes and models used to investigate and support the development of improved chemicals, materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Being a Chemical Engineer compiles and analyzes testing data. Presents research results used to estimate costs, establish performance standards, identify solutions, and facilitate processes. Additionally, Chemical Engineer maintains lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal. Complies with all safety and environmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Chemical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. What We are Looking For:
Dr. Aaron's Wright biomedical research group in the Department of Biology is seeking a postdoctoral research associate with expertise in chemical biology and/or organic chemistry. Dr. Wright's group is focused on phenotype-driven studies of the gut microbiome and other complex biological systems. Within this focus, the research group has a strong program in the synthesis and application of chemical probes in complex biological systems and measurements of probe labeling by LC-MS based proteomics, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. We are hoping to extend our expertise by identifying exceptionally motivated individuals with a Ph.D. and a background in chemical biology or organic chemistry.
