Flint Hills Resources invites applications for the position of Plant Operator to join our dedicated team at the Asphalt plant in Dubuque, IA.

As an Plant Operator, you will collaborate within a team to oversee the comprehensive operation of the terminal. We are open to considering candidates with little to no experience, as we are committed to providing thorough training to the right individual for this role.

This role also offers a flexible 9 / 80 work schedule, meaning there is the potential for every other Friday off depending on workload or potential plant needs.

What You Will Do

• Use our data management system to input computer data and manage assigned duties and Work Orders.
• Ability to manage small projects.
• Ability to work individually and or small teams.
• Plant operations management. This could include training drivers, truck loading oversight, managing tank to tank transfers, overseeing barge / truck offloading activities, etc.
• Perform equipment maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Conduct periodic inspections of tanks, valves, or piping, and other product quality control or technically oriented tasks related to an asphalt facility.
• Must be available for on-call rotation including nights, weekends & holidays if necessary.
• This would require a relatively flexible schedule as needed.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Ability to meet all physical requirements.
• Have a valid Driver’s License
• Willing and able to reside within a reasonable drive of the terminal in Dubuque, IA

Physical Requirements :

• Ability to be medically approved to participate in HAZWOPER associated programs.
• Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, bend, twist, climb and balance.
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds (with frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds)
• Is able to respond to audio alarms, or other loud noises that would indicate a safety concern

What Will Put You Ahead

• Previous work experience in a bulk storage terminal and / or pipeline operation
• Mechanical and / or electrical work experience
• Previous work experience with automation systems

This role is subject to a pre-hire medical test
