Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job Summary:
This is skilled, specialized work in the operation of a wastewater treatment facility. An employee in this class is responsible for the continuous operation and maintenance of the facility on an assigned shift. The work is primarily routine in nature but employees must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment in correcting certain problem situations. The position requires a high level of skill obtained on the job.
Depending on your qualifications, you may be offered one of the following levels:
Treatment Plant Operator Trainee $17.44
Treatment Plant Operator C $21.21
Treatment Plant Operator B $23.37
Treatment Plant Operator A $24.54
Supervision is received from a Treatment Plant Shift Supervisor or Treatment Plant Manager.
Required to work as part of a team for four 10-hour shifts (either Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday), including holidays, nights and weekends.
