Chemical Plant Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Sand and Gravel Plant Operator

    Summary :

    This position involves the skilled operation of various crusher and washer equipment as well as a variety of laboring activities, including, but not limited to : lubricating;

    shoveling; sweeping; steam cleaning; painting; tire work; mechanical assistance; lifting, pushing and pulling various objects and raking.

    Work will be performed per the plant foreman's instruc tion; free from direct supervision except for more complicated jobs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

    Operate equipment safely and efficiently.

    Maintaining aggregate crusher, washer, and surrounding environment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

    Shoveling; sweeping; steam cleaning; painting; tire work; mechanical assistance; lifting, pushing and pulling various objects.

    Communicating production issues to supervisor or lead person.

    Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather condi tions.

    Keep time and material records.

    Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications.

    Willing to travel and work away from home when required.

    Willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

    Report to work at the designated start time.

    Able to work overtime when required.

    Other duties as assigned per supervisor.

    Qualifications :

    One (1) year related experience is preferred.

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to two years related experience and / or training;

    or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    Knowledge and experience with Microsoft operating systems.

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions

    Ability to work various shifts (days, nights, swings)

    BALANCE including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.

    VISION 20 / 40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions

    HEARING corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers
