Description12 hour rotating shiftsJOB SUMMARY : Responsible for control and operation of an entire chemical process or system, including reaction chemistry processes.
Responsible for the quality of the batch manufacturing finished products. Provide backup assistance to area supervisor and assist in conducting department training and communications meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Operates chemical processes to manufacture products throughout the facility. Includes reaction chemistry processes involving high temperature, vacuum, condensing, reflux, decanting, recovery of byproducts, etc.
Lead training and mentoring activities for Chemical Operators and develop new organizational improvement methods, including cost reductions and or productivity improvements.
Coordinate staging of raw materials and use of logistics support. Follow written production operating instructions and formulations and lead efforts to update procedures for efficiency and safety gains.
Responsible for accurately adding and recording the required material amount specified. Responsible for meeting all required quality criteria, including specified appearance.
Responsible for in-process quality testing with resulting batch / equipment adjustments. Gather and record operating information and data.
Includes use of data monitoring systems to track batch progress and make process decisions. Responsible for safety, includes recognition and understanding of chemical hazards such as flammable materials, corrosives, and high temperature processes Actively involved in problem resolution as it relates to quality issues with batches.
Regulate or shut down of equipment in case of emergency. Participation in emergency response efforts. Monitoring and inspection of equipment for subsequent scheduling / coordinating of maintenance efforts.
Coordinate shift transfer as needed, includes communication of process issues and batch status. Coordinate needed schedule changes during off hours.
Direct personnel in the maintenance of housekeeping issues and or chemical spills as required. Assist with loading trucks as necessary.
Must be willing to work rotating shifts. May be required to fill containers. Performs other duties as assigned.RequirementsEDUCATION : High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE : 6 years of related experience and / or training.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONSForklift License.Hazwoper 24 hr certification preferredLANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to analyze written information, such as procedures, against practice in order to propose change. Ability to write basic procedures and work instructions.
Ability to present information and respond to questions from peers, supervisors and managers within the organization. Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, internal customers and in some cases external customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
